Asia 2017 Part II: Singapore

As Australia is literally on the opposite side of the globe from Belgium, I figured it’d be wise to have another pit stop before returning home and that’s what I did in Singapore.

Our pit stop while heading to Australia was Bangkok. We stayed there for 5 days with the first intent to visit Myanmar. But because we already had so many planes to catch throughout the whole Asian/Australian trip, we had to rethink our plan and decided on a 5-day self-care treatment instead as you can read in my previous post Asia 2017 Part I: Bangkok.

If I didn’t believe in destiny before, I’m a strong believer now: our hotel was right next to the Burmese Buddhist temple. As they say: we couldn’t go to Myanmar so Myanmar just came to us.

We also went to the Merlion Park to have a view of the Marina Bay with the country’s iconic mascotte: the Merlion statue, a mythical creature with a lion’s head and the body of a fish.

The highlight of the trip to me would be the cheap but darn good Singaporean food we’ve had over there. You’ll have to take my word for it because I don’t have any evidence to show since the food was long gone in my tummy even before I realized I hadn’t taken any pictures.

The other highlight was the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay. I have never experienced anything like this before, I felt like I was being transported into the world of Avatar. And what was even more amazing was the Garden Rhapsody or the light and sound show between 7.45PM and 8.45PM and more importantly, it was free!!!

For a first time going to Singapore, I was charmed and I’m looking forward to going back and discovering more. In the meantime, here’s a little video of my trip:
