Before I start writing about all my international travels again, I had to tell you about one last place I visited in Belgium: Pairi Daiza. Formerly known as Paradisio, Pairi Daiza is a 65 hectare (160 acre) animal theme park and botanical garden located in Brugelette in the province of Hainaut.
How is it different from other zoos? This animal park offers you an unforgettable trip around the world going from Han Wu Di’s Dream garden (the biggest Chinese enclosure in Europe) to Ganesha’s Indonesian 4 acres garden and the 8 hectares of “La Terre des Origines” dedicated solely to Africa.
If I were to ever need a break away from Belgium, Pairi Daiza is the perfect destination to flee my country for a day. I’d go back just to see the new koalas. Let’s hope I happen to be in the park during the 4 hours they’re awake since the ones I saw in Australia last month were all asleep (a little hint for a future post).
